Fifth Fatality of Covid-19 identified in Wichita County

Wichita County-This week the Wichita County Health Department received confirmation of the fifth  known death related to Covid-19 in Wichita County. The Wichita County resident was in their 70’s with underlying conditions.

The Wichita County Health Department staff sends their deepest condolences to the family in this difficult time. To protect the most vulnerable in our community please practice social distancing, wash your hands and wear a facemask.

At the time of this release Wichita County has recorded 176 positive Covid-19 cases within the county.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough , sore throat, congestion, runny nose, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, chills, headache, diarrhea, or nausea, call your healthcare provider immediately. Do not visit the clinic/hospital in person prior to receiving confirmation from your health care provider.

Please adhere to the following recommendations:

Wear a face mask in public places, avoid non essential travel, follow all recommendations regarding self quarantine, large gatherings, maintain 6 feet distance, wash your hands, and wear a mask.

The Wichita County Health Department has worked closely on decisions with numerous  community partners including Wichita County Government, the City of Leoti, Wichita County Emergency Management, Wichita County Hospital, and USD 467.
