January 29You can blame bird flu for high egg prices at the grocery store.A dozen large, Grade A eggs cost an average of $4.15 in the U.S. last month – a nearly 37% increase from the year before – according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s a much larger jump than the 2.

February 12The Wichita County Junior/Senior High School gymnasium was the place to be on Saturday, February 8, as the Indians hosted a Powerlifting meet.Twenty-one teams participated in the meet. Both the Indians boys and girls teams took 1st place!

City Council Votes to Purchase New Storm Warning Sirens

Council reviewed quotes from Sentry Siren, Inc., storm warning sirens last seen when setting the 2025 budget for the City of Leoti. A quote for the replacement of three sirens for $88,750.00 (Model 7V8-B) or one siren for $33,950.00 (Model 14V-B).

7 WCHS Wrestlers Qualify for State Tournament

February 26Fourteen WCHS wrestlers participated in the 3-2-1A Regional Wrestling Tournament on February 22. While these athletes wrestled in Cimarron, other sites in the class were Council Grove, Fredonia, and Hoisington. Seven guys and seven girls represented Wichita County.
