Early Wichita County Homesteader’s Son Passes Away At 91

Robert D. Breitkreutz, who was born on November 11, 1929, passed away on May 29, 2021, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was the son of the late Ernst & Emma (Kuhlmann) Breitkreutz, who lived in the Lydia community. Ernst, along with his twin brother, Richard, mother, and sister homesteaded in southwest Wichita County in the early 1900’s. Robert, who joined the Army soon after his father’s death in 1946, retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn (Sally) Breitkreutz of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Richard, daughter Rene of Alaska; stepchildren, Bonnie, Anthony, Vincent, & Gabriella; sisters, Elda (Harry) Reed, Wilma (Charles) Norman of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, sisters, Dorothy Reed and Ona Swope, and stepdaughter, Julie.

A military service with inurnment was held on June 14, 2021, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Scottsdale, Arizona.
