Wanda Schuhs

Leoti—Wanda May Schuhs, 95, passed away on September 18, 2022, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. She was born on November 7, 1926, in Lenora, Kansas, to Sidney R. and Etta Catherine Fitzjarrell Williams. After her parents’ deaths, she was adopted by Lawrence L. and Mabel Smith of Dresden, Kansas.

On May 24, 1947, Wanda married Forrest Woodrow Schuss at the Methodist Church in Dresden, Kansas. He passed away on May 2, 2012, in Leoti, Kansas.

Wanda was a resident of Leoti, Kansas, since 1968, having moved from Glen Elder, Kansas, with her husband. She had been a teacher with a

degree in Special Education as well as a nurse’s aide for many years.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Mark Schuhs of Bellevue, Nebraska, David & Jerry Schuhs of Olpe, Kansas, Phillip Schuhs of Leoti, Kansas, Jonathan Schuhs of Leoti, Kansas, James & Song Schuhs of Litchfield Park, Arizona; five grandchildren, Devin Schuhs of Phoenix, Arizona, Stephanie Girdner of Papil l ion, Nebraska, Timothy Schuhs of Wichita, Kansas, Jaqui Gracey of Fr. Rucker, Alabama, James Stackhouse of Phoenix, Arizona; three greatgrandchildren; and one niece, Davene Abeling of La Palma, California.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Stephen Schuhs, and one grandson, Kelly Schuhs.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:30am at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Leoti, Kansas, with pastor Dustin Fritzmeier presiding.
