Sometime between 7pm Christmas Eve and 8am Christmas morning, the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City was broken into.
According to Scott County law enforcement, the motive for the break-in is believed to be theft of offerings.
The would-be thieves were unsuccessful in that endeavor. However, they did damage to the church during commission of the crime.
