J. Charles (Chuck) Jaeger of Lakin, KS, passed away in Palm Desert, CA, on July 17, 2024. He was 84 years old.
Chuck was born in Leoti, KS, on August 27, 1939, and was the third child of nine born to Dan (D.F.) and Lena Jaeger. He graduated from Leoti High School in 1958.
In 1964, after serving in the U.S. Army, Chuck married DiAnne Mahler and returned to Leoti to resume farming in Wichita County. In 1971, he purchased land in southern Kearny County, and moved his family to Lakin in 1972. Chuck continued to farm in Kearny County for the next 30+ years.
Chuck is survived by his wife, DiAnne of Lakin, KS and Palm Desert, CA; son, Robert Jaeger and his wife, Elizabeth of Overland Park, KS; daughter Shelley (Jaeger) Moengen of Spikkestad, Norway. Chuck had 6 grandchildren: Quintin Jaeger, Sophie Jaeger, Marit Moengen, Michelle Moengen, Lauren Jaeger and Lindsay Jaeger. Other survivors include, siblings Bill Jaeger, DeeAnn (Jaeger) Wilken, Berta (Jaeger) Shafer, Tim Jaeger, and Susan (Jaeger) Wedel.
Chuck is preceded in death by his son, Jack Q. Jaeger; his father, D.F. Jaeger; mother, Lena (Green) Jaeger; sister, Joellyn (Jaeger) Bishop; and brother, Raymond Jaeger.
The family plans a private burial service in Wichita County.
A celebration of life reception will be open to the public and held on August 5, 2024 from 1:30pm – 4:00pm at Christ Covenant Church, 205 S. Wyoming St, Leoti, KS.
