Leoti—Vera Berning of Marienthal, Kansas, left this world on August 24, 2024, to be with her Heavenly Father. Born on April 8, 1959, in Scott City, Kansas, to Bart and Teresa (Baker) Berning, Vera lived her entire life on the family farm in North Wichita County.
Vera attended Marienthal Grade School and graduated from Wichita County High School. Having a strong faith, Vera was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.
Vera enjoyed assisting with the family farm work, visiting with her friends, planting vegetable and flower gardens, baking, cooking, and keeping current with the news. Her lifestyle allowed her to concentrate on the needs of others. As her parents’ health declined, she assisted to their every Vera Berning need.
She will be missed by her family and f r iend s . I f her parting leaves a void, “then fill it with remembered joy” for she has led a life filled with many blessings and she followed the path that God planned for her.
Vera is survived by her siblings: Linda Berning and Shirley Berning of Leoti, Kansas; Galen Berning and Karen Berning of Marienthal, Kansas; Jesse Berning of Scott City, Kansas; Larry Berning of Lakin, Kansas; and Leroy Berning of Gordon, Nebraska.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Teresa (Baker) Berning.
A private funeral Mass of Resurrection with Fr. Bernard Felix was held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas, at 10:30 a.m. on August 28, 2024, with Rosary being said preceding the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial followed at the St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Marienthal, Kansas.
