Betty Jean Niswonger, age 54, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Destiny Support Home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on August 9, 1970, to Keith Eugene and Barbara Ann Zehm Niswonger in Leoti, Kansas.
Betty Jean attended Beamgard Learning Center in Atwood, KS, from elementary through high school. During those years and several after, Betty enjoyed competing in Special Olympics. In 2006, she moved to Destiny Supports in Garden City, where she lived and worked until her death. She loved her pets, her family, and especially her nephew, Dylon. Her smiling face and desire to bake cookies for everyone will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara, of Tribune, Kansas, her brother, John & Leslie Niswonger of Wallace, Kansas, and her nephew, Dylon Niswonger of Lakin, Kansas.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Keith, and nephew, Ryan Quaid.
Funeral services will be held at the West Bethany Church in Leoti, Kansas, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with pastor Michael Gonzalez presiding. Interment will follow at Carwood Cemetery.
Public visitation will be on Tuesday, May 27, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Price & Sons Funeral Home, 202 North 4th Street, Leoti, KS 67861.
