Garden City, Kansas—Ervin Urban, age 86, passed away on September 29, 2020, at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born in Bison, Kansas, to Joseph and Josephine Urban on March 5, 1936.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lela May; his daughter, Juanita Jo Wells; one brother; and three sisters. He is survived by daughter, Cheryl Moore (Anthony) of Larned, Kansas; son, Dale Urban (Nancy) of Garden City, Kansas; three brothers, four sisters, six grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Ervin worked in the oil fields of central Kansas in his early years. He then worked building grain elevators in western Kansas. Later, he moved to Leoti to work with his in-laws helping start up the Leoti Ready-Mix Plant. He then worked driving truck and grinding hay for Leon Beedy and Leon France in the Leoti area. He then worked for the Wichita County Road Dept. until his retirement, moving to Garden City. His retirement included enjoyment down south as a snowbird with his wife and dog, Tuffy.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
