Fredrick “Freddie” Duane Brewer

March 16, 1930 – May 2, 2024 Our beloved Fredrick “Freddie” Duane Brewer was born March 16, 1930, in Crowley, CO, and went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 2, 2024, at his home in Colorado Springs, CO.

Freddie grew up in Crowley and finished high school in Manzanola, CO. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 8, 1951, and deployed to Korea from August 8, 1951, through May 2, 1952, serving as a Combat Medic on the front lines. After his service, he was honorably discharged and moved to Leoti, KS, where he spent the next 43 years in farming. He loved watching things grow. On December 5, 1954, he married Janet Joyce Palmour in Crowley, CO. Freddie gave his heart to follow Jesus in 1956 at the Leoti Baptist Church. He retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Colorado Springs, CO.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; their five children: Marty Brewer, Terri (Kirk) Larson, Kay (Rex) Walk, Blake (Kassy) Brewer, Bryce (Sue) Brewer; eleven grandchildren: Jenny Walk, Jill (Jason) Hubbard, Jami (Irvin) George, Kolin Walk, Jace (Jordan) Larson, Kye (Olivia) Brewer, Zach Brewer, Shea Walk, Tate Brewer, Quade Brewer, Quinn Brewer; four great-grandchildren: M i cah George, Houston Hubbard, Scottie Rose Hubbard, Remington George; two sisters, Imogene (Russell - deceased) Roddy and Carol (John) Law; and a host of nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his family and they were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Calvin and Opal Lena (Ohleson) Brewer; brothers, Robert “Bob” (Lorna) Brewer, Larry “Bucky” (Jan) Brewer; and sister, Maxine (Loren) Sober.

A graveside committal was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado Springs, CO, with a memorial service that followed at 11:00 a.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO. A luncheon reception followed at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
