Inez M Blau

Leoti—Inez M. Blau, age 92, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, from complications after contracting the COVID-19 virus. She was born on November 7, 1928, in Falfurrias, Texas, the daughter of Juan Nicholas and Soledad Garcia-Campos.

Inez moved to Selkirk, Kansas, at an early age and attended Selkirk Grade School.

She attended Wichita County High School and the St. Catherine Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in healthcare until her retirement. Irene said, “My experience in Wichita County has taken me into one of the most interesting phases of my career. I’ve had employment with 15 doctors in 43 years.”

Inez enjoyed staying active with baking, gardening, music, and dancing. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas, until St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church was built in Leoti, Kansas. She was active in many church activities including the Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society: the Cursillos. Inez was also a member of the Business and Professional Women, VFW Auxiliary, American GI Forum, Girl Scout Leaders of America, and the Leoti Latin Women.

Inez had been a resident at the Wichita County Long Term Care since August, 2015, where she enjoyed crafts, bingo, patio flower gardening, puzzles, and was an avid football fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.

On February 20, 1950, she was married to Matthew Chavez Mora. He passed away on March 15, 1975. On May 30, 1982, she married Rodney L. Blau. He passed away on February 13, 1986.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother, Charles Campas; two sisters, Magdalena Cordova and Louise (Ohl) Korbe.

Survivors include two daughters, Louise & Jim McKissick of Thornton, Colorado, Ramona Ortega of Garden City, Kansas; one brother, Rafael “Ray” Campos of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Due to the recent increase of Covid-19, a private family vigil service will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti, Kansas. The service will be streamed live on Facebook at Price & Sons Funeral Home. A private family funeral mass will be held Monday, December 14, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., with Father Tim Hickey. Mass will be streamed live on Facebook at Price and Sons Funeral Home page starting at 9:55 a.m.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Leoti Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Wichita County Long Term Care in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
