Jimmie Hernandez, age 68, of Leoti, Kansas, passed away at the Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was born on August 23, 1957, in Cameron, Texas, to Anita Perez, and raised as the son of Visente & Hermerejilda Rangel Hernandez. He was a proud Leoti resident since moving from Post, Texas, 58 years ago.
He was a family man above all else. Jimmie loved to fish. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and different projects and showed a great talent for putting things back together better than new.
Jimmie married Regina Lauber on July 7, 1979, at the Baptist Church in Leoti, Kansas.
Jimmie’s survivors include, his wife; four daughters, Melinda Hernandez of Leoti, Kansas, Nestor & Emily Lemus of Leoti, Kansas, Matt & Sarah Comfort of Leoti, Kansas, Uriel & Adrienne Blanco of Leoti, Kansas; sisters, Jose & Veva Lopez of Scott City, Kansas, Soccoro & Lupe Lopez of Scott City, Kansas, Mary Luera of Texas, Syliva Flores of Texas, Anna Perez of Texas; brothers, Tibursio & Alicia Hernandez of Liberal, Kansas, Damacio Balladerez of Texas, Juan & Irma Flores of Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nora Rocha; brothers, Ben Hernandez, Paul Hernandez, John Hernandez, Jessie Hernandez, Pete Hernandez, Simon Balladerez, and Ricky Florez.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Christ Covenant Church in Leoti, Kansas, with Pastor Andrew Vang presiding.
Interment will follow at the Leoti Cemetery.
Public visitation will be on Thursday, November 13, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 14, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Price and Sons Funeral Home, 202 N. 4th St., Leoti, KS.
