In our nearly 23 years of marriage and ministry, we have lived in communities in Tennessee, Ohio, and now Western Kansas. In the years that we lived in Byrdstown, Tennessee, our girls and I were active in a weekly playgroup with a few moms and their children.

What might your final words before passing be? Reportedly, when actor and comedian Richard Belzer passed away [in February, 2023] at the age of 78, his final words were filled with expletives and rather scandalous.

Cookies & Pie

Recently, I asked my husband to make some cookie dough for a function we had coming up. There’s a funny meme we’ve seen that says something like “When a man says he’s going to do something, there’s no need to remind him every 6 months”, or something funny like that.

A reflection on sin and forgiveness There is a well-known s tory of a group of schoolboys who were playing a game during recess. They determined that whoever lost the game would have to go to seek out their parish priest and receive the Catholic sacrament of confession and reconciliation.

The Ball

Sometimes, I find myself imagining life in another time period. You know, back to the good old days. I think back to times when things were simpler. Rocking chairs and front porches. A gallon of tea brewing in sunlight. Slow days. Peace. Quiet. No cadences in my mind of the to-dos ahead of me.

‘Pick Up Your Cross…’ Out of God the Father’s great love for us, we have all been given another year to grow in our relationship with him. He calls us, and we are called to respond in kind…or not. Our identity as Christians comes fully a l ive when we see ourselves as “disciples” or followers.

There is probably something that each of us looked forward to in adulthood, that after some time, had us wishing we could return to childhood. I believe it would be different for each of us. I remember my first visit to the grocery store as an adult.

By looking at our surroundings here on earth, when we consider who we know, where we live, what we do, it seems very closed minded to think that it just came about and evolved from some animal or Big Bang theory. At some point in the past, it became what it is today.
