Porter Makes History as the 1st Lady Indians Wrestler to Win State

Jentri Porter made history as the first girl at WCHS to win a state championship in wrestling, along with being the first girl in school history to go undefeated for the season. Wichita County’s last state champion wrestler was in 1998.

Congratulations to our Wichita County 4-H’ers who participated in Regional 4-H Club Day hosted in Leoti on February 21, 2026.We had a great turn out from all 6 counties participating (Wichita, Scott, Finney, Kearny, Hamilton, & Greeley). Thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success!

Garden City Community College Statement on Lockdown Response

[Garden City, KS] February 19, 2026—At 9:13 AM, the Garden City Community College Police Department was alerted to an unconfirmed report of shots fired near the Cafeteria. Following the college’s established active intruder procedures, the campus was placed on lockdown.

Senior Center Menu

Meals are served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. and are available to all. Guests of any age welcome. Meals for those 60 years of age or older are $3.50 and under 60 are $7.50. Lunches need to be ordered one day in advance. Delivery is available for home bound residents.
