In November, WCHS choir and band students, along with dozens of others from throughout southwestern Kansas, auditioned for the Southwest Kansas Music Educators Association's honor choir and honor band.

Wyatt Lofstrom (pictured right with WCNS Office Manager Sarah Pitzer), son of Brad and Melanie Lofstrom won The Native Sun's Candy Cane Counting Contest held during the Christmas in Leoti. Wyatt's guess was of 75 was the closest to the actual count of 84. He won a $25.

New Year’s Eve is one of the deadliest days of the year for drunk driving.Wichita County Sheriff’s Office joins law enforcement across the state to provide education about the importance of driving sober.

•When residents clear their driveways and sidewalks, they must put snow on the lawn or far enough from the curb as directed in Ordinance 2014-10 and amended by Ordinance 2015-03. The City will push snow on interior streets to the outer curb in order to make the road passable only.
