Another Week, Another Wind Storm

Western Kansas has always had a reputation for being a windy place. After all, rumor has it the wind was at least one of the reasons for Leoti’s long-ago nickname, Little Chicago.So it’s not much of a surprise when the winds kick up gusts that knock down trees and blow away shingles.

Sunflower Announces Holcomb to Sidney 345kV Transmission Line Project

Hays, Kan.—Jan. 8, 2026— Sunflower Electric Power Corporation announced plans to construct a new 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line as part of a regional effort to strengthen the electric grid and improve reliability during extreme weather events.
