When We Pray

No one is perfect. Every person in this world is a unique individual. Each of us can be blinded by some sin or some element of our human condition, and struggle to be who God wants us to be. We can struggle with the gift of faith as individuals. All of us have doubts to be clarified.

First World Problems

For whatever crazy reason that I decided to bathe pets before church brings today’s thought. Dogs are man’s best friends. They don’t talk back. They keep showing up with affection no matter what goes down. They don’t roll their eyes… I could go on and on. Only I’m not really a dog person.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

When I was a child I sometimes thought about the coming year and what I would be doing and where am I going. When I was in the seminary our teacher would asked us to plan ahead and imagine or picture ourselves 5 or 10 years from now.

Oh, the exciting time to hear the first word a child speaks. Usually it’s “Mama,” along with “papa,” “dada” and “baba,” because they are the easiest to make. I wonder what the first word will be from the mouth of our new granddaughter Nora.

I t ’ s the season of pumpkin and cinnamon and crisp autumn leaves and turkey and stuffing and pecan pie. But, even more importantly, it is the season of family and friends. It’s the time of year when we gather together and reminisce on the past and look forward to the future.

A few weeks ago, I had the “rare” privilege of being inconvenienced. This thing snuck into our lives quite unexpectedly and visited daily. For about a week. Just as I grew to tire of it, the Lord revealed a hard truth to me, and I fell flat on my face in repentance and shame.
